We adopted my 4-year old brother, Elson, from Haiti almost 1 1/2 years ago. He was born with a tumor on his face. When some doctors took a trip to Haiti, they found Elson and were able to arrange for him to come to the United States for surgery to remove the tumor. When they took him back after the surgery, his grandmother said she couldn't care for him and could they please find a Christian family in the States to adopt him. To make a long story short, we were asked if we wanted to and we said yes! And after 2 years, he finally came to live with us! He fit in like he'd always been here. This is a picture of his birth-mother and me.
We leave the clinic a little bit early one day to take a trip to the beach. It's a huge contrast to what we see the rest of the week.
These are a couple of pictures of buildings that washed away in the hurricanes this past summer and the tent is where refugees are staying because their houses washed away.
This is a ditch with water that starts out clean at the top of the mountains. Everybody in the village uses it. They bathe in it, drink it, use it as a restroom, and wash their clothes in it.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
