Haiti is a body of land that's 10,714 square miles located in the Atlantic ocean. (As a scale, New Hampshire is 9,351 square miles and Maryland is 12,407 square miles.) Haiti is considered the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. It shares its land with the Dominican Republic. Its population is estimated to be about 8,706,497 people. Life expectancy is about 57.56 years.
A group, Mission Haiti Midwest Inc., takes trips to Haiti several times a year. The trips are led by Dr. Mark Fulton DDS. The trips are about 9-10 days each. They hold medical clinics in different villages each day, seeing about 400-700 people a day. They pull teeth, diagnose diseases, and prescribe medications brought along on the trips. Most people in Haiti will never take even a Tylenol in their entire lives.
Dr. Mark Fulton founded a hospital in Sainthard, Haiti that is staffed by Haitians and is open several days a week.
Last summer, Haiti was hit by 3 hurricanes and a tropical storm. There were tons of mud slides that washed many peoples' homes away and many, many people died.
Above all else, guard your heart for it is the well-spring of life. Proverbs 4:23
